Who do we work with?
Our salary negotiation coaching is designed for mid-level and senior career professionals, including individual contributors, people managers, directors, VPs, and executives. We work with professionals who have at least 1–2 years of experience and are earning $130,000 or more per year.
Who do we not work with?
We don’t provide coaching for new grads, interns, contractors, or hourly-based roles. For those roles, we recommend learning our negotiation strategies through our Salary Negotiation Courses.
Do you help negotiate offers at startup companies?
Absolutely! We have extensive experience negotiating roles with startups and smaller companies.
That said, we do not guarantee increases for startup roles because these offers typically include an equity component that does not yet have a clear or liquid value. This allows us to focus on optimizing the entire compensation package and not just the components with immediate cash value (i.e., base salary).
Why a fixed fee for your coaching?
We use a fixed-fee pricing model to give you a clearer and more predictable experience. You pay one flat coaching fee that includes all strategy development, communication drafting, guidance, and support throughout the negotiation.
This allows us to focus entirely on maximizing your compensation without the complexity of percentage-based billing. You’ll always know your full cost upfront and your coaching isn’t limited by hours, sessions, or back-and-forth communication – we support you through the entire negotiation until the final offer is complete.
We also offer a $10,000 increase guarantee, meaning that if your first year’s total compensation doesn’t increase by at least $10,000, you may be eligible for a refund of your coaching fee. This gives you the peace of mind and ROI assurance of performance-based pricing, while keeping your costs simple and predictable.
What do I get when I work with a salary negotiation coach?
After you pay for our coaching services, you’ll be provided with a booking link to schedule an intro call with Brandon to discuss your situation and kick things off. If you already have your job offer, you’ll share those offer details with Brandon and he’ll conduct an initial review to start crafting the negotiation strategy. Brandon will then provide the suggested next steps and you’ll discuss any questions before kicking off any communication with the recruiting team.
Throughout the salary negotiation, there are no limits on emails or calls with your coach. Your coach will guide you through the process, drafting all communication with the recruiting team and coaching you on what to say during any calls to ensure you stay confident and avoid missteps.
When should I connect with you?
We recommend connecting with us as early as possible. Salary negotiations can begin as early as the first recruiter phone screen, so being prepared to handle compensation-related questions from the start will set you up for success later in the process.
How long do the negotiations typically take?
On average, most salary negotiations take 3–5 days from the time you receive an offer to when the negotiation is complete. However, the exact timeline can vary based on the recruiter’s responsiveness and their compensation team’s internal approval process.
Our goal is to move through the negotiation efficiently, showing that you’re eager to move forward while still maintaining leverage and avoiding any appearance of desperation. It’s a balancing act and we’ll work through the timing together throughout the negotiation process.
What if I only have one offer?
It's a common misconception that you need multiple job offers to successfully negotiate. We've consistently helped clients negotiate better offers even when they have only one. While competing offers can sometimes be useful, we’ll assess your unique situation and propose a range of strategies to build leverage for your negotiation.
Will you help negotiate multiple offers?
Yes, we can help you negotiate multiple offers at the same time. Your fixed coaching fee covers the option to negotiate any offers you receive during your engagement. If you receive additional offers within one month of kicking off the coaching engagement, we’ll include negotiation support for those offers at no extra cost if you decide to pursue them.
That said, we typically recommend only negotiating offers you’re seriously considering since each negotiation requires meaningful time and effort from the company’s hiring team.
Do you guarantee that the company will increase my offer?
We’re so confident in our approach that we offer a pricing guarantee: if we don’t help you secure at least a $10,000 increase in total compensation, we’ll refund your coaching fee.
However, note that while we have an impressive track record for the salary negotiations we assist with, it’s important to understand that no one can guarantee a company will increase their offer and neither do we. Salary negotiation isn’t a magic trick, but rather a process that requires strategy and skill. We provide you with expert salary negotiation coaching and proven strategies created from hundreds of successful negotiations to give you the best possible chance of securing a higher compensation.
How does your offer increase guarantee work?
We’re so confident in our approach that we offer a pricing guarantee: if we don’t help you secure at least a $10,000 increase in your first year’s total compensation, we’ll refund your coaching fee. Our clients typically earn far more than this increase, but the guarantee ensures you get a strong ROI from working with us.
To keep the guaranteed increase policy fair for our coaching, it does not apply in the following situations:
- New-grad offers or contract/intern-to-full-time roles
- Compensation below $130,000 per year
- Roles with Government agencies
- Negotiations already started before enrolling in coaching (including sharing expectations or discussing compensation with the hiring team)
- Deviating from our guidance during the negotiation process
- Roles with startup companies
You can review all details in our Terms and Conditions.
Can you help if I try negotiating myself first or have already accepted an offer?
We don’t recommend it. We typically work with clients who haven’t started negotiating yet because even small missteps can limit the final outcome. If you’ve already begun negotiating on your own, our offer-increase guarantee does not apply to our coaching fee.
If you’ve already accepted an offer, we’re not likely to be successful. We don’t assist with renegotiating offers after they’ve been accepted. To get the best results, we recommend booking before or as soon as you receive your offer.
Our strategies are proven across hundreds of successful salary negotiations and we get the best results when we’re involved from the very beginning of the process.
What is the risk of my offer being rescinded?
If you follow our guidance, there shouldn’t be a risk of having an offer rescinded due to negotiation. Companies expect candidates to negotiate and we have extensive experience negotiating across various industries and company sizes. We’ll evaluate your situation and guide you on the best approach to negotiate without risking your offer.
I've negotiated before and am a good negotiator. Why wouldn’t I just negotiate myself?
We often hear from people who initially decided to negotiate on their own, only to later realize they aren’t being paid competitively and wish they used our strategies. Recruiters are trained in various negotiation tactics and can make it seem like you’ve received the best offer. However, we follow a proven salary negotiation strategy and use a data-driven approach to ensure you’re truly being paid at the top end of the pay band. Ultimately, it’s up to you whether you want to take the chance or work with a professional to secure the best possible package.
Do you speak on my behalf?
No, you will be the one speaking during any phone calls with the recruiting team. We’ve found that negotiation skills are highly valued by employers so our goal is to teach you how to navigate these calls like a professional. This process not only helps you secure the best offer but also demonstrates to the hiring team that they’ve chosen the right person for the role. We’ll ensure you’re fully prepared before any conversations with the recruiting team so you feel confident and have a solid plan in place.
Do you help negotiate role levels?
We don’t specialize in role level negotiations. We can help you ask about it during the offer negotiation process, but in our experience, companies rarely change a role level or title after issuing an offer, so it’s unlikely to be successful.
Do you have experience with non-tech roles?
Yes, we have experience negotiating across most industries, roles, and levels.
Are your rates negotiable?
No. Like any professional service, our rates are fixed. Our focus is on increasing your compensation so please do not expect us to lower ours. Our pricing is among the lowest we’ve seen for these services and you’ll be working directly with our Founder & Lead Negotiator, not a part-time recruiter or general career coach.
How and when do I pay?
Before we begin coaching, you’ll electronically pay via our Booking Page. We use Stripe for invoicing, which offers a variety of payment options. After you pay for our coaching services, you’ll be provided with a booking link to schedule an intro call with Brandon to discuss your situation and kick things off.
Do you provide coaching for promotions or raises?
No, we don't currently provide coaching for negotiating promotions or raises with your current company. For those situations, we recommend learning our negotiation strategies through our How to Negotiate a Raise Course.
